My Dear Parishioners, REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY MEMORIES We were privileged to celebrate three inspiring Remembrance Masses. Our thanks to 568 (184,162,222) who celebrated and gave offerings of £1,020 . The presence of so many at our Masses brought out the emotion and meaning of the day - the sadness of the past, the blessings of the present, our hopes for the future. Special thanks to -
Our thanks also to the ladies who arranged the flowers in front of the altar and on the high altar. Much time and thought went into the poppy-based simple design which was a perfect backdrop for our celebrations. Many commented on the arrangements and the beauty and dignity of the Masses.

CELEBRATING THE NEW YEAR!
For the past two years, the children, assisted by their parents, helped us celebrate, in a highly colourful way, the Church's New Year, They made Biblical symbols for the Jesse Tree which adorned the church and lifted our spirits throughout Advent. I hope that they will respond in the same way again this year.
The Church's New Year, the First Sunday of Advent begins 30 November with our celebrations starting at 6.00pm Mass Saturday 29 November. More details next week about the symbols next week.

'
WELL DONE GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.'
May we discover and develop the talents that are in our hearts so that -
we will use them to enrich and enhance each day,
we will take time to recognise the talents of others,
we will never stunt the growth of other's talents
through a lack of recognition or faint praise,
we will often say a heartfelt and sincere, 'Well done!'
The First Reading lists the traditional talents of the housewife.
'A perfect wife - who can find her?
She is far beyond the price of pearls.
Her husband's heart has confidence in her;
from her he will derive no little profit.
Advantage, not hurt, she brings him all the days of his life.
She holds out her hand to the poor and the needy.
The woman who is wise is the one to praise.
Let her praises be sung at the city gates.'
'To have a job and know how to do it well is the best thing in the world. '
'Well done is better than well said.'
If the young had wit and the old had strength,
everything would be well done.'
'What is well done is done forever.'
'The worst mistake a boss can make is not to say, "Well done".'
'The best reward for a deed well done is to have been the one who did it.'
Inscription:
Here lies Captain Ernest Bloomfield, accidentally shot by his orderly, Well done thou good and faithful servant.
MUSICAL TALENTS
(Commemorating St Cecilia, Patron of musicians; Feastday Sat 22 November)
Caruso was an Italian at first; then someone heard his voice and said that he would go a long way.... and so he came to America.
Music sung by two people at the same time is called a Duel.
I know what a Sextet is but I had rather not say.
A good orchestra is ready to play when the conductor steps on the odium.
Anyone who can read all the instrument notes at the same time,
becomes the conductor.
Morris dancing is a dance surviving from times when people were happy.
My very favourite piece of music is the Bronze Lullaby.
A tuba is much larger than its name.
A trumpet is an instrument when it is not an elephant sound.
I can't reach the brakes on the piano.
When electric currents go through guitars, they make sounds; so would you.
May we take the time to say to someone this week, 'Well done!' Patrick McMahon
